Hi,

New to the site, and new to Vitara's. In fact so new I ain't got one--yet! I'm about 4 weeks off picking up one, just gotta sell my fuel guzzling Jeep first.

The plan is to buy a stock mid 90's JLX and slowly put a few $$ into doing it up. Not going too over board (yes I know, very boring ), probably just put some bigger MT tyres on it and lift the body 50 mm. So can anyone tell me if I can put a set of 235/75's on the standard 15" rims? I'm planning to run a set of Kuhmo MT 834 as the reviews all seem pretty good a an all-round tyre. If they're crap, just tell me

Also can anyone recomend a good kit to lift the body 50mm? Just want a bit more clearence and hopefully help with running the bigger tyres mentioned.

If you want 94 Jeep Cherokee that uses slightly less fuel than a Sherman tank, just let me know...

That tyre size will be fine on the stock rims. Some tyre shops will tell you that you need a 6" width minimum, tell them to HTFU and fit them.

i would recommend doing a spring lift first (better ride, better offroad, better clearance etc) and then doing a BL (body lift) or coil spacers later on if you still need more height.

theres a few different brand that do a kit around 30-40mm lift: ironman, Tough Dog, king springs. i cant recommend any of these coz i haven't used any of the kits before. there are around $800 and arepretty easy to install to if you mechanically minded.

BTW there is no such thing as not going overboard. Once you start tricking it up there aint no end to it....ask my missus.

Exact reason i never bothered. The extra inch of lift isnt worth it.

I went lifted king springs. Commodore rears, and ive still only done a strut mount flip on the front. My struts are still in good nick so im not willing to pay $300 for struts that will give me an extra 20mm of extra travel or whatever it is.

How wild or mild you make it depends on the type of terrain you will mainly drive, a good and easy start is like any 4WD, 2" lift and the 75 series tyres will fit easily.

As for what combo springs and shocks you get, well your a little spoilt for choice, but check out Dobinsons shocks. After putting them in mine, I'd definitly put them in any other 4B I'd get. They also do springs.
