Hey all,

i just put on a set of 30's and im thinking about putting a t28 on my 1.3l sierra to give it a bit more poke.

i was going to do a j pipe manifold and try to use the stock carby.
has anyone here used one in a blow through setup?
are there any issues that i will run into??

Tried it years ago and failed, too many vaccume lines to fart arse rount with, ended up bolting a SU side draft carby to the turbo all was sweet, just a lil thirsty that's all , might have to do a bit of work to the head and block aswell, decompression, bigger valve springs, ect ect, might even be cheaper to stick a
1600 in bud, if ur looking for just a lil extra stick

Its a way better idea to fix the gearing to give you more poke when you fit bigger tyres... Much cheaper than forced induction and engine conversions too.

T28 is too big for a 1.3L sierra IMO

time to go and do some more reading mate,

Look at gearing, if you want more RELIABLE poke 1.6L 16v EFI vitara engine conversion

the gearing is ok as i drive on the highway a lot, just need a bit more torque, i guess 1.6 engine conversion would be ideal, although i do have a spare ca18det sitting in the shed!

a t28 is a pretty small turbo. i think if the fuel and timing was right it would go great. im going to give this a go as i have most of the parts already.

Kermy 87 did you use the su as a suckthrough setup?? also with the dizzy locked??

if you want more torque then supercharge it, a turbo wont really give you much more low down.

yeah su was a suck through, a lil iffy having fuel running through the turbo but it works, the dizzy I had made from
a mate, from what I have no frikn idea, it was vacume advance, boost retard it worked well

No, your gearing is 15% too tall, and that's what's making it feel like you have inadequate torque.

Exactly. And that's where all the $$$ and heartbreak is.

I hope you have a lot of spare motors to use on this project. You are going to break engines troubleshooting this.

Fitting a T28 on a 1.3L will give sweet FA torque increase under 4K rpm.

Fitting a turbo that is actually sized correctly for a 1.3L like a CT9 or a garret GT15 or GT20, would allow good usable boost just off idle and great midrange increase with power tapering off after 5500rpm.

Turbos are just as good as superchargers, but you need to pick the right one for the job.

Spare motors x2, I blew countless heads & head gaskets before I got mine tuned till it ran sweet, by sweet I mean actually ran and wasn't blowing 3ft
flames out the arse from overfueling, it is ALOT of dicking around with it, , all well and cool having a turbo set up I loved it, but soo not worth the head ache, efi is so much easier, plug and play brother

to be honest it may sound a bit stupid but i just feel like toying around with something different to what im used to. the 1.3 is not practical but im willing to give it a chance.
im mainly using the zuk as a cheap commuter so not too worried about losing low down torque and already have a spare t28.

i have a nt 1l sierra wreck have been thinking about swapping transfer case over that might sort out the gearing issue.

the timing will be done by a charade turbo dizzy, initial trails with the original carb and will see how it goes.

if all else fails i could adapt a ca18det efi setup.

lol, atari4x4 check out the inlet pipe from the afm..
and the oil feed touching the exhaust housing can't be good

sierraously i could make a better setup with macaroni pasta and a paper plate.
