it sounds like a silly question but what is the best way to improve the standard suspention setup in a sierra but by keeping std leaves? i am not looking to replace it all just yet and would like to keep the suspention at around std high for now (will maby have a body lift installed to give tires room to brethe) any suggestions?

i looked into getting my springs reset and replacing with standard shockies. was gona cost abouut 50% more than what a full new arb OME kit was gona cost (both including shockies) plus they have a tendancy to sag much quicker.

arb kit only has a 2inch lift withc will disapear with a front and rear bar prety quick if ur worried about hight.

It depends on what load rating the springs are, a fair few get comfort springs as that gives the most flex, but they will sag/drop with any significant extra load... a Medium load spring may be the best option if you have any bars put on, or a toolbox and stuff in the back...

Exactly what are you wanting to achieve? You say you don't want any extra height, are you after more wheel travel, better load carrying, nicer ride etc.?

Std leafs ride pretty well IMO. Only thing you can really do to improve on is get some descent shocks under it. Koni, OME etc

basically i am asking for a slightly imposible task
i am looking to run 31 all terrains with a 2" body with a bit of hammering (maby moving diff forwards a touch) but that leaves me with the std suspention. now for legal reasons im looking to stay at 2" of lift (without tires) or just over that.
so i am looking to improve ride, if possible flex and a load carrying (for camping when loading the back with crap) of the std springs

from what i have being reading and from what sssierra has sugested a ome kit is good ride, pretty good flex and when sagged should roughly be 1.5" of lift, but with a 2" body that is giving me roughly 3.5" (give or take a bit) of lift

Not running springs for legal reasons but running 31... 31s aren't really legal either

i dont reckon... unless you do a guard chop as well.

when a sierra has 31s and no gap in the wheel arch the tyres look way larger than if theres a gap to be seen... its just an optical illusion but it happens.

realistically, you're going a 31" tyre which is illegal anyway, so might as well go the whole hog.

personally though i'd do a 2" spring lift and a good guard chop and fit 31's rather than add a bodylift.

I not sure if the law has changed, but NT used to be modifiers dream. Your man years ago was a modifier, and so, made laws that made modifying a very easy task, the best in OZ.

fit some 2" extended shackles to gain another inch to go with the bodylift, that should have you fit 31's with some hammering. With only a bodylift 31's will rub like hell offroad
