hey guys just another problem on the zook,
i was wondering why the zook was using so much fuel so i had a look and once again my fuel tank has split this is the second time,
to me i think this is a vacume, is this true?
and would this be related to my stalling problem?

Check your fuel tank breather isn't blocked. It runs from the top of the tank through to the charcoal canister in the engine bay.

I've had a tank split because of this.

The 2 obvious signs were the tank visibly getting sucked in at times after driving, and a rush of vacuum when i'd open the fuel cap at the servo.

yeh it used to sound like opening a shaked bottle of coke when i used to take the fuel cap of so i drilled a hole in the cap and since then it doesnt do it cheers mate i will have a look at that breather

I thought it was normal to suck in air when you take the fuel cap off.
Every car that I have owned has.

a properly designed tank should have 0 to very slight positive pressure.
depending on breather type.

I would be worried if i had any sort of vacum in a fuel tank. The sound you hear when you open the cap is fuel vapor escaping. Thats why there is only so much useable space in a tank, as fuel expands as it heats..

I would be checking breathers and charcoal canister lines if there's a vacum.

A vacuum will also starve your engine for fuel, it is fairly common problem here. we don;t get many over pressure problems, but to me if the tank splits I would think it would be because of positive pressure, not a vacuum?

so how you said it starves the engine what will this cause because maybe all this leads back to my stalling and idling problem could this be why?

might not be why, but it might be making a minor problem worse.

thats true im going to have a look at the breather tommorow and clean it all up,

hey guys got my new tank in and cleaned out lines but for now i want to bypass(unplug) my fuel tank lines from the canister will this make my car run worse? or will it make my tank splitting problem better as i think my carbon canister is blocked???

I don't have a charcoal canister, and mine runs fine
