hi all

im talking my gearbox out to change my clutch but it does not want to come out. ive un-done all the bolts. was just wondering do i have to take the starter moter out to remove the gearbox

Yes you do.
It may need so persuasion too

Take the starter out. Remember to drop all your gearbox mounts. Then get a big fuckoff blade screwdriver and wedge it between the bellhousing and back of block and u will have to wriggle it about. Just make sure u have at least 2 people with you for safety sake. You gave to wriggle it off the pins!

Did you end up having to unbolt and move the engine forward to clear the input shaft when dropping the box? Because I did and it was a bit of a prick to do solo.

No didn't move the engine. I just unbolted the front drive shaft and the input shaft and I just came out pretty easy when everything was out of the way

Now the fun bit, getting it back in.

Took me three or four goes of trying to get the flat top of the bell housing past the clutch before I realised you need to rotate the gearbox about 45 degrees for it to clear.

Much easier when you tilt the box on a angle
You will see what way to go when you get to it

It has to come out on mine due to exhuast location, i think it would be the the case with other people aswell... Whats four bolts to make a job eaiser..

My exhaust must be in a different location then others then
I don't recall taking no drive shaft off just the crossmember

Let me reword that, some other people. My cat is right off the end of the headers and hits. It came out easy for Ratty562 anyway so it worked.

yeh my cat is right under the gearbox so i just droped one end of the drive shaft to make it easy for the box to drop out
