I just had a look and there is only about 30mm between the inside of the rim and the steering arm joint thingy . So I should only go about +10 max or it will hit.
5.5 inch rim + 1.5 inch = 7 inch so 19mm wider either side.
The offset is already +5 so I could probably go to +10. before it hits, depending on the thickness of the rim too.

Hmm finding rims proving to be imposable. Maybe I should go for 16 inch instead of 15 's there are a couple around in 16 that would probably fit.
maybe I could put 6 stud vitara drums on ??

I'd go up to 16 if I didn't love my rims. Vitara are 5 stud. All Suzuki rim stud patterns are the same until the new GV shape

The GV ones must be the ones I was looking at .
So I if go to 16 inch what tire size would i be looking for?
I was originaly going for 235X 75. 15"
so I'd be looking for 215 X 75 r16 is that right?
Are there any good muddies in that size ?

this link helped me heaps... http://www.1010tires.com/TireSizeCalcul ... tter...was the torque loss with the 235's really noticeable?...considering 235's ILO 215's but don't want to lug the engine too much.

I'd say yes. You'll never make it up a hill in 5th again and often you'll be down to 3rd. It's still quite drivable but the loss of driving enjoyment is definite. Steep hill starts will mean slipping the clutch. Offroad you'll lose engine braking on the descents and you'll need more momentum uphill.

If standard is +5 and 1.5" narrower, I don't thinj a 7" wide +25 rim would even come close to fitting.
I'd be aiming for +10 MAX, preferably closer to +5.

The only ones I found were 5.5" wide, something to keep in mind if you want to run larger tyres.
Some nice rims tho

How much larger do you want on a jimny? my 7.00x16 Creepies are approx 31" diameter and 8" wide when mounted on a 5.5" rim.

And they have a TERRIBLE offset! I have a set under the house! You'd need 2" wheel spacers to run them! (soon to be trailer wheels )

That's fine for 7.00x16s but they aren't the most common tyre. Most people who mod jimnys are going 235/75R15 or 30x9.5. 235s for example are supposed to be run on a 6" rim.

Quote: Most people who mod jimnys are going 235/75R15 or 30x9.5. 235s for example are supposed to be run on a 6" rim. from some pics that i saw on the jap jimnys they ussually run a 245/75/16 tyre (if im not wrong) that it bassically means is a 30" tyre..... the question would be is its eassy to find that size or not Fatzook wrote: Damo wrote: Daz7 wrote: How much do you have to spend?

really?? I do know they jimnys there are NT, and they sell two types of wheels, one to keep it standard, and other that have mroe offset to make a wider track.... dnt remmeber the website so dnt really know the correct offset.... i do like the look however.... i just dnt like the 5.5 wide... think is too thin... or wht is the really advantage to run a 5.5 rim over a 7" in offroad?
