After the spate of stupid weather in Sydney of late I am wondering whether fog lights would be beneficial. My headlights are OK as I've upgraded the wiring and installed brighter bulbs however the road just in front of me is still quite dark. The reflectors/street signs & car in-front of me are illuminated OK it's just the actual road surface.

Given with the rain I consider it "adverse" weather would fog lights be of benefit?

Thanks.

Yellow lights down low are beneficial in the rain. The whiter you go the more they seem to have no effect at all.

I use my driving lights on my outback mainly for people to see me in light fog at night.

I never use them any other time as they are illegal and i fcking hate people using them on a clear night because they have them and cbf to turn them off, similar mindset to the people with HID's in old cars

If its raining in western syd, I'm in the clouds. like now..Open my door, the cloud comes in.

Oh the massive Subaru ones can be annoying.
I used to have the little tiny ones from super cheap on my old daihatsu about 2" up from the bottom of the car facing the road at a low angle, heaps good in the rain and shit.

wicked acid flashbacks... a mate had a place in the hills & the clouds would be inside, being there on acid was an experience not to be forgotten. 8O

Haha yeah they look stupid. But i had the bluey white bulbs in my old car so at night in the rain i couldnt see a thing.

I have the standard colour temp bulbs in my zook, but higher wattage.

I still think the law against driving lights is the most redickulous law ever! It's been proven that having lights on during the day dramatically improves safety and driving lights (set up correctly) are less dazzling than normal head lights.

I've bought a set of yellow oval fog lights for about $30 (clearance line from repco) but havn't put them on. I bought them because of the same reason you want some, Travelling along the F6 from the gong to shitney, the fog up the top of the mountain can bring traffic to a crawl.

Yellow light will pierce through the fog where as normal driving lights / white lights will just reflect off the fog and rain and basically be useless.
