ok i know theres alot of different ways of doing RUF extend shackles , missing links shakles , extending the chassis out .. now my question is what set up are u using what have u tryed and what works and what doesnt .. any info would be great thanks im mainly intressed

Stock shackles, front and rear hangers moved accordingly to accommodate the spring and move the front diff ~10mm forward (30"tires), full custom springs and koni shocks.

Quite stable off road, good road manners with the swaybar in. Rides pretty nice too!

Thanks for the info .. but i do not want to move the hangers everything Pref needs to stay the way it is .. and i want to run RUF using longer shakles maby ..

i was reading the other day about using stock rears in the front and re-drilling the rear spring hanger thing back 25mm and up 10mm, then run longer shackles, cant remember the size off the top of my head tho... 70mm sound right? or is that stock size?

ya stock size are like 1 inch shakles

JrZook is spot on, my advice is if you don't want to move mounts forget about RUF because you are wasting your time.

Yep this has been done in the past, it is a "rough" not a "RUF"

ya stock size are like 1 inch shakles

Your tape measure is faulty, standard shackles are 70mm, 1inch is 25mm

Yep this has been done in the past, it is a "rough" not a "RUF"

it would be a lot safer than me welding chassis extensions on then bolting my springs onto them O.o they would snap off coming out my driveway

If thats the case then i would think that maybe you would be better off getting a professional to do it for you. Do it once do it right im sure you would rather spend $300 bucks rather than kill some poor person when ya rig falls apart because you wanted to save a bit of cash. Just think about it before doing some dodgy setup it will 95% of the time come back to bit ya !!!

I dont think I can even be bothered doing it. Dont think the re drill with stock rear is worth the effort. I know boiler makers but I think extending the chassis is dodgy anyways, dont like the idea personally

I've done a heap of extensions. I don't think there's anyhting remotely dodgy about an extension done properly. I've done "dodgy" extensions - over 10 years ago... and that car is still going strong...

Dodgy was prob the wrong word. I just dont liked the idea, maybe when I think of welding i just see my welding haha. And that is the beefiest extention I have seen by far

any idea how much it would cost for a professional to do a PROPER chassis extension with spring hangers moved? assuming i already had the springs, shocks, shackles etc, just the cost for labor and materials?

Just put LJ rear springs (same length as Sierra rears) in the front of my LWB. 50mm chassis extension (30 would have been ok), front mount moved forward 30mm, origional rear mount position, 90mm long shackles.

Front end flex is heaps better, ride is smoother and onroad handling is better.
