well finally got fuel squirting . which is good not acutally firing though. think the fuel is bad, it has been sitting there for quiet a few months. going to drain it tomorrow and give it another go.

just want to say thanks for all the help and ideas probably be pulling my hair out for another couple months if it wasn't for your help.

first it was because i was trying to use the 1.3 dizzy but never thought to remove the extra black box (not really sure what does) so it was blocking the signal. finally got that sorted thanks to Mart but still had no fuel so traced the loom again and notice that the tacho wire (brown wire) wasn't connected and for some reason there was no brown wire going to the ecu. so after cracking the shits with it again i swaped looms over to the origanal one which had the brown wire going to the ecu connected it all up again and it started squirting fuel. so happy made my weekend.

the thing is still not running though pretty sure the fuel is gone to shit, it's been sitting the tank for about 8 months. going to try drain it some time this week and hopfully have it running soon.

Make sure your fuel pump is upto the job of supplying the right ammount of pressure otherwise it won't work correctly , Cheers Paul.

using the vl fuel pump. seem to be squirting fine. just got to get the engine running .

Have you set up the dizzy timing at all?

no not yet. kinda back firers every now and again. i think the timeing got a fair bit of the reason why it is not turning over.

well had a quick paly today and almost got going until the battery went flat. the black box (still not sure what it's called) position does alter the timeing was changeing the position and car start to fire a bit better.

well got the engine idling today. a mixture of bad fuel and the earlier problem of wiring the dizzy was stoping it from running.

new problem though it seems that only cylinder 1 and 4 are fireing. 2 and 3 have spark but after the has engine idled for a while only 1 and 4 exhaust are hot.

what everyones idea on what this could be? is it the timeing or something ELSE that im missing?

wait till it comes off of cold start and it will come back onto 4cylinders

engine dosen't seem to want to run on all 4. i get the car to idle pretty smoothly but exhaust temp's show that 2 and 3 aren't firing.

could this have anything to do with the timeing at all? or with any of the other problems i had prior?

Have you put a timing light on it yet?

Yer hooked the timing light up briefly it's a little out.

Well set the timing up close to spot on. Then have a spare plug in leads 2 and 3 to see if its actually sparking.

With my 16V 1.6 tbi (on a 1.3 block), it runs rough while on cold start, so the cold start is set by the ecu (preset-unchangeable), and with the injector putting to much fuel in and not enough air flow it run's really rich, so if i put my foot on the throttle and make it sit at about 1000rpm it will hum pretty quietly, but still on 2 cylinders, (im not sure why on two cylinders and i never checked the cylinder count cold while revved/load, so could change there again) but after it has come up to operating temp and is reading off of the 02sensor it mellows out and i can't hear it running with half an exhaust. It takes about 20mins if i let it ilde, but 5-10mins if driven. If i was you, i would get your instruments right you need a reliable, tacho, temp gauge, intake with air temp sensor, and a manifold with an 02 sensor, all reliable

unless your getting real info you won't be getting anywhere with your problems.

Make sure the water lines are hooked to tbi or it won't run smooth on idle as well , Cheers Paul.
