Well, I'd been stewing on getting a little Vitara for some months now, reading all I could on the forum and asking lots of questions. But most Vitara's I looked at were around 4 to 6 grand. I only wanted a cheap(ish) to muck around in and was stoked to see this one come up locally for a grand.

Now, it's has no rego and needs a few minnow things- front door trim, rear window winding mech and some TLC to get back on the road.

Now, today I plan to put it up on some ramps and spray it underneith to slow down future rust. I was planning to use a 50/ 50 mix of diesel and engine oil. I use this on my boat trailer and there's not a spec of rust. But are there any better (and cheap) ideas out there? I plan to use my 12 ltr pump spray bottle.

Welcome to zook world.
I think once the rust has started you are fighting a losing battle.
If you stop the rust on the outside, it's just going to eat away on the inside.

Good old Ebay.

Just spent the last 3 hours going over it for rust, and there's surpringly little. I ground out what I could, wire brushed any flacky stuff and drowned the spots with rust converter. Just put it up on the ramps and sprayed the entire bottom and filed all the chassis with the diesel / motor oil mix. The lawn is dead for sure but she won't rust now!
