Ok there seems to be a lot of crap advice out there when it comes to the issue of fixing the death wobble in Jimny's. Good friends of mine at the One Stop Suzi Shop in Nerang have recently spent a few days with a Jimny of their own working out exactly what the issue is with the wobble and what causes it. The advice that you are hearing in forums like this is only partly correct, the conclusion is that as a Jimny owner, you are going to have to fix various things on an ongoing basis to keep the wobble at bay, the Jimny was never designed correctly in the first place and the king pins are just too small. Shimming king pin bearings as a solution is a poor one - why shorten the life of bearings by trying to compensate ? Fitting a steering dampner just covers up the problem - it doesn't fix it and it only covers up the problem to the point where the king pins really are stuffed then dampner or not, the wobble will come back. Really, many things need to be checked first as in 10% of cases the problem can be related to tyres, wheel aligment and trailing arm bushes etc, but the far majority of causes are worn king pin bearings. Replacing these is quite a job and really these need to be done every 25,000km or so to remain wobble free. Any kind of lift or suspension mod will shorten the life of them and decrease the intervals. The guys at the One Stop Suzi Shop have come up with a solution to get you around 50,000km between intervals with only fairly minor additional cost. Give them a call the guys are always happy to help. I have been told though that the info is priveledged since it cost two days to get it sorted out - they will fix your car but they will not tell you how to do it, so if you need a pro, go and see them.

um...how do i go and see them for a fix when im on the other side of the country? And why would they not say how to fix them? It would help so many of us jimny owners out?

Just my opinion but not actually specifying what is being done to me would cause them a potential loss of customers
As i would never book my car into have work done on it if i did not know what was actually being done

So they have tested and know 100% that the life of the king pins and bearings will be doubled?? Ie they have done numerous tests and driven alot of klms (like 10 lots of 50000klms) with success on all tests?

I know the guys out there (not personally but have used them professionally on many occasions) and they do know there shit and are great to deal with.

But I would want to EXACTLY what was done to my car.
Ihad to take the mrs car back for warranty work an the receipt she received was vague.. Replace fuel pump relay and rrtolace handbrake part.. I was not happy with that as how do I know if something went wrong that it wasnt there fault?

I have experienced the death wobble on occasions and every time it,has been something different. From tyre balancing, king pin bearing and at the moment the disc need to be machined.

I think One Stop Suzi Shop in Nerang are one of the few pro-active Suzuki shops in SEQ.

That said, and having done various fixes regarding the Jimny wobble I doubt whether their fix is as permanent as you imply. I think that unless you are doing the work yourself your comment is totally out of place and based on heresay. New bearings can often only fix the wobble for a matter of weeks before needing shims to counter the play that has already developed.

As you say the design is flawed and will always require ongoing adjustment and the only way around this would be to redesign the front suspension.

A lot of time and effort has gone into the information that's around and I'm sure that Paul has used some of it in his analysis and secret cure.

One Stop Suzi Shop gets a thumbs up from me but your comment (which sounds like a parrot repeating what it's just heard) get a big thumbs down. If you're not going to add something useful why bother. Also Why not add it into a thread that already exists and actually contains information.
