yes i am i newby to zooks but im keen to make my sierra a beast off road and have some plans hopefully in the near future, eg 1.6 efi engine im certain, and 2 inch body lift, power steering, but im a bit lost when it comes to a suspension lift. 3 inchs i think would be great but i dont want to go to big and just tip over. any advice would be great, also any pointers on which suspension brands to get??

Really depends on what you want to drive? Huge rocks or mild touring tracks?

3" suspension will be too stiff. Most go 2" or under with bodylift and 2" or under on spring, But also depends on what tyres you want to run, and don't forget gearing, which is easily sorted by buying transfer/diff gears to suit your needs.
Powersteering will be one of your last mods. You don't really need it but it is abit of luxury.

1.6 is an easy conersion and has been done many times.

35's is pushing the very boundaries of sierra gear. Even with stronger aftermarket front axles.

If you like the look, go for the silverstones or remould isna turbo's on ebay. Saw some insaturbo's on a drunk guys car 4wding, (i should of taken his keys) they look awesome, but would be hell noisy onroad. These will be undersize also..

It really depends on brands and their sizing, like my 33's, were 31.9" Its what you can expect from a cheaper branding though. Likewise with the silverstone 35's, really a 33'.

My imported km2's are correct sizing. 35's.

hay fats are you sure about that as my land cruser, which has a shitload bigger diff then a hilux,
has the same clearance on 33s as my sierra has on 31s.
i would love some one with a hilux to actually measure what the diff clearance is.

Strop, you still haven't said what type of driving you want to do. Don't take this the wrong way but I'm thinking maybe you want it mainly to look like a big tonka truck. I ask because its a lot cheaper to mod for looks than to mod to make an offroad weapon. No point having all the boys on here recommend an expensive line of mods to maximise articulation, traction and stength if you are only planning on building it for road use and the odd fire trail. Regardless with tyres that size you'll need decent spring lift, decent body lift, big offset rims, guard hammering, cut off front bar outriggers, aftermarket transfer gears, move front diff forward, maybe bumpstop spacers etc.

I've got a pair of ln106 diffs sitting in the shed. Next time I'm there I'll try to remember to measure from the centre of the axle tube down to the bottom of the pumpkin. That should give us something to compare to the zooks.

My lux diffs are 295mm from ground to lowest point. (plug and actual housing)

Real 35"s.

Car has no weight except for the body though., So the tyres have sagged alittle, but not alot. Tyres are aat 34psi still from shop

I think there is only 1/2" difference in crown wheel size between 7x series cruiser and hilux. But there is 1.5" difference between sierra and 7x cruisers.

Same old shit though cos my 33's are flat out measuring 32", and yours may measure 34" so who gives a shit

Lets just say that the pumkin on lux diffs is bigger than sierra

I do no what your saying, I'm after a balance of the two, something very capable off road which I no a stock Sierra is but not to sore on the eye either, two inch lift sounds like the way to go. I'm not after a mini monster truck that's for shore
