Hi all


I am going to use a 75 series landcruiser power steering box in my Sierra

I just wanted to know if the 1.6 Vitara power steering pump I have

Will have enough flow/ pressure for the landcruiser box to work correctly or would I be better off with a v6 commodore power steering pump as it still users the multi rib pulley

At a guess I would say no. Someone might have a conflicting opinion though

It will work fine.

Depends on the size of the rubber you intend to run though.

Rob is running 60 series p/s box with baleno pump and has been doing the job for years. He is however going to upgrade.

I guess what im saying is it will work but is not the best tool for the job.

I assume you know the box mounts way further back on the chassis, so axle and bumpstop position, shock mount location etc will all be effected.

I will only be running 35s

Thanks for the info using the 1.6 will make it a bit easier

I'm my application the box will be mounted further forward then the Sierra box

I will have no problems with my bump stops or shock mounts because I have already cut them all off

Will be making new ones when everything is position correctly

Huh?

The pitman arm on an LC box is forward[/] facing. That means the box has to be mounted about 12" further [i]back in the chassis to get the drag link in the same place.



Just making sure you knew that - your response sounded like you didn't.

Personally, I think they are a bad box to use in a sierra, but I'm aware it's been done.

I am using a 75 series landcruiser box they are not foward facing I am using the 75 box to suite my diffs

OK, in that case make sure you won't be all over it with your tyres then - that's a lot of bulk to put right where you are putting the tyre.

LHD IFS hilux box FTW! - prefer inside the chassis rail for neatness.

If clearance becomes a problem I will adjust the steering stops or add wheel spacers

The reason I am sticking with the 75 series box is
I already have it and the have order the high steer to suite

I had a 80 series box on my old zook and used a el falcon pump it turned my 37's fine never had a problem with it

My lwb will run lux ifs box, lux diffs. It will rub only slightly with 15x8 -19 rims, and 35x12.5's. I have to adjust steer stops for other reasons.
