thanks guys, yeah i have a brand new d40 and bought the jim as a weekend toy. happy to mod her in any way haha, inside guard chop had no hesitation, but outside i was taking my time on the plastics. came out great, heaps more room for the wheels. :D

The inner parts are steel.
Plastic is easy!

what about just cutting the inner metal... give you a little more clearance...

don't be weak, owning a jimny in the colour "twilight" one would have thought the emo jimny would be cutting it self for attention.

Yeah you could just trim the metal underneath without touching the plastic guards. I just wanted to bigger open guards look.

That's the best guide haha except on the front panels I used tin snips. Heaps easier than jigsaw.

What did you end up doing with the inner guards (plastic mud protective pieces of crap).

Did you have to do away with the or did you cut and paste and redrill mounting holes?

i thought about keeping them but no point, i just got rid of mine, i took them out and threw them, any holes that were left i just filled with sikaflex, now have no open holes for water to get into.
theres nothing under the guard to protect now. except air intake on drivers side, soon to be snorkel so will be good. hope it helped u.

good job mate! looks well done, should be great with a bit of lift under it and the guard chop, will be interesting to see if it scrubs at all with a 2 inch lift under it..

only problem not running inner guards is if your a hard core wanna be line monkey in his dp the water pressure will come up and push your guards out, will be like wings after a couple puddles

not worried about the flare your actual guard will pull out, happens all the time
my guard chop is mean, looking into some different options at the moment of cutting them

u will destroy them considering how u smashed your guards having bigger 1s will just cause them to get caught more, i thought about it also,
