Funny you should mention that Christover, the water temp gauge has been going crazy (bouncing) for a while now...the shunting was an issue months before the temp gauge started playing up however.

Just before I went overseas, I had a new radiator put in, the problem has not gotten better or worse however since that.

EDIT : the new radiator was due to a front end accident. It wasn't an attempt to fix any issue other than the fins being damaged.

My problem started after a full drain and replace of coolant.
Took some head scratching to find out what was happening.

You could have a small coolant loss, head gasket type issues.

Anyone able to point me to a guide on how to bleed properly? I can't seem to find anything on AZ. Is it just a case of leave the cap off + heater on, or is there a bleeding system on a g16b?

That's how I did mine,
but It took three or four heat ups and cool downs to get it right.
I could see bubbles coming out which slowly got less and less each time.

I also replaced the temp senders and coolant sensor, just in case

No, coolant sensor triggers something in ecu, sends a signal to computer. Temp sender is the bit that tells temp guage what to do.
There is a 2nd sender that triggers Air con fan in some way, too.

NB. Don't put thread tape on senders,
like I did at first,
they supposed to have a good earth.

got a new fuel pump for $55, so I put that in...still has the issue.

I think about the only thing left now is AFM and Distributer (I only did rotor/cap before)

I am hoping someone will have one for sale, or willing to lend me for a few hours.

mate, mine was doing this for a while but mainly after i got a new thermostat put in. everything in the cooling system was new except one thing, the temp sender. got a new one for $38 and fixed, once the old one was out you could feel how loose it was internally, giving it a bad reading.

I havnt read the whole thing, but that sounds a lot like the coil breaking down.
I had a friend who chased a intermitant miss for about a month and it turned out to br the coil

Blockage in exhaust?
recently a mate of mine had the same symptons on his subaru, spent a bit of money replacing a shit load of stuff. Even his mechanic was stumped.

Ended up being that the cat was blocked, so they gave it a good smashing with a 4x2. Fixed it up, but sounds like a truck now.

I replaced the coil with one from a wreckers...didn't help. Still, it is possible the one I picked up was faulty.

OK, So it has gotten to the point now where I can replicate it on the garage floor which has made it a bit easier to fault find.

I know now, that if I unplug the coolant sensor, it works fine (except a bit rough until it's warm in the mornings).

I replaced the coolant sensor, still having issues.

I replaced the computer, still having issues.

Can anyone else think of anything else it could be other than the wiring between computer and sensor?

I will re-run my own wires this weekend to discount that.

if you can disconect the sensor and it runs fine try hooking the old sensor back up to the wire and earth it somewhere else on the motor and see if it still does it. I dont know if it will make any differance just curious.

ran my own wires...still an issue.

Any other ideas? It is using an extra 1/4 of a tank per tank with the sensor unplugged, so it's costing me a fair bit

I have found that removing the o2 sensor also masks the problem. So it is when the comptuer goes into limp mode.

Anyone able to help?

Have you tried replacing the O@ sensors, and have you checked your fuel pressure regulator.

It sound to me like it is getting too much fuel.

Check out kick-fix.com seriously, you can diagnose just about any Suzuki EFI there with nothing but a cheap volt/ohm meter.

ok, so it's been running well for 4 weeks now. I disconnected the temperature gauge, and it's been fine. Seems there must be a short with the temp gauge and something else. Problem is I can't get to the wirring without taking the inlet manifold off, and I don't think I could be bothered at this stage, so it's running without a gauge ATM.
