hi guys. recently got my sierra with a 1.6 efi vitara motor running but i havnt got the VSS. cold i use a VSS from another 1.6 vitara if could find a dash cluster at a wrekers? does it haveto be the same model as mines a 97?

Any suzuki vss will do the job. vitara, baleno. All good.

Take a look in the build thread (I think) there's a post detailing how to add a VSS to a Sierra cluster using a reed switch and a scrap of perforated board.

VSS is Vehicle Speed Sensor.
It is just another sensor to tell the ECM how fast the vehicle is going in relation to throttle position.
Car will run fine without it but if connected and working, will use less fuel, especially on the highway.

I have a aftermarket ecu microtec does that mean vss would not work with this??

Check your ECU manual - it may or may not have an input for it - and if it can accept one, then it will need to be programmed to make use of it - so you're probably better off leaving it as it is.
