hey went for a drive around the suburb today in the zook and was driving fine, fairly smooth then all of a sudden splutter fart cough then fine again
drove for a few more corners, tried under a bit of load, splutter fart cough?
turned another corner then engine dies
opened the bonnet and noticed a small bit of oil leaking from the carby side of the rocker cover but that shouldn't be the reason for the spluttering?
could it be fuel, dirty tank, i've replaced plugs and leads, cleaned carby with carby cleaner previously?
should i take off hose to carby to see if there is fuel reaching it? as it sounds like fuel starvation?

Sounds like the fuel filter, up near the drives side rear wheel.
Replace an see what happens.

check the leads arent rubbing on the bonnet - i had that years ago with corroded leads... they were arcing onto the bonnet but only at odd times (when the body/engine etc moved and made contact).
now that its dark its pretty easy to see too... you'll see it.

or you have a small hole in a fuel line and its sucking air threw it.
i had a similar problem with my old zook, take the intake and return line off your fuel pump and blow compressed air threw it and check if fuel comes out of any of the lines.

could be faulty leads. i got a set from repco (top gun) the other day and the end plug fell off and they were to short so i took them back. could also be a faulty spake plug if your droped one.

The oils not coming out of the fuel pump is it..?
If so, that's your problem.

ok this is gotta be a fuel problem... i fixed the rocker cover gasket as it was weeping again so did that no worries then went to start it. Started no problems, idle no problems so just let it run for a while
ran for about 10mins just idling away then splutter splutter then stalled
turned the key nothing for about 10secs then tried again and it started, idled perfectly for 20mins until i turned it off
to me that sounds like its picked up some shit in the fuel?

its sucking air somewhere mate,
run it again and this time when it dies, pull the inlet line off the carby and turn the engine over, if fuel doesnt spurt out straight away you are sucking air in further down the line. or perished filter, but that usually wouldnt effect idle.
also check the seal around the fuel pump.
get some one to blow compresses air down the inlet and return line (1 at a time) while you follow the lines and see if any fuel/ air comes out of a little hole anywhere.
also you cold have shit in the tank, that keeps floating around and blocking the fuel pickup.
drop the tank and clean it with kerro.
