hey guys when i got the zook about 2 years ago the previous owner had stacked the front of it into a stump and bent in the tube cross member on the chassis. anyway what i was wondering was can i fix it? because i cant fit an after market front bar without modding the mounts on it. this is because the chassis rails have been pulled in at the same time which makes things very very gay x4.

if anyone has any suggestions on what i could do they would be muchly appreciated thanks.

Cut it out and replace it. Push the rails out while your at it and weld back in a bit of tube to the correct length once rails are where you want them.

cut it out and replace it. And while your doing it put i stronger pipe through the middle.

I had to replace mine after a recovered using the factory tie down.

Simple. Cut a piece of box section steel to the same length as the distance between your rails. Bash it in behind the cross member and tack weld in place. Think about where you place your tack welds, as you will need to be able to get a grinder to them later to break out the brace.

After your temp chassis member is in place, cut out the old cross member and repair. If you want more specific infor about how to go about this, PM me.

The far side did get plug welded too after lining up the steering box, but before the extra plate went in with the crush tubes.

and while your at it,
Power steering!



This way is engineerable.
Some engineers need fish plates on the top and bottom of the chassis too though, you couldnt really tell easily with mine when finished that it was extended.

hmm yeah i would try to do this i would do a ruf but i would fuck it up somehow one day ill go and buy some steel to fix it ill get a pic of the actual cross member later on

If you think you'll stuff up a RUF then you're not ready to repair the stock crossmember. It's fabrication work, involves critical welding of the chassis, and plenty of alignment and measurement either way.

You have made a excellent point (thanks for making me look stupid ) I want to get it fixed so i can get a new front bar (my arb bull bar is shitty i recon) I like the look of the jml one but i cant get one because none of the mounts line up with the chassis rails .

If i was to get someone to do it profesionally it would cost me more arms and legs than i have soo its gay x7.

i had the same problem well still do haha i just cut the tube out and got my current Custom bumper to hold front end together it works but il make it strong when i put the winch on front end
