I have bought two random swifts of ebay for $537 for one which lasted 3.5 years until I wrote it off. Flogged the bejubus out of it, put 4 litres of oil in it when the light came on and stayed on and that was it. It revved its arse out regulary

The second one got flogged as much but it drowned in a flood.

Just look on ebay for cars that people have in there yard that they have got the shits with and are getting rid of. Some good bargains out there.
