You WILL need a 1ltr trans at least.

And buy rims.

Just had a look plus I have the service manual changing the transfer looks pretty easy. Any body know what there worth and what I'm looking for and where to look. I'll have alook around the forum

With your car being a Coily, you'll have to swap your chain driven transfer for a gear driven one from a leaf-sprung Sierra to fit any of the reduction gears. This will also require a new jackshaft between the gearbox and transfer.

The stock geardriven transfer ratios are lower than the Coily ratios (H1.32/L2.145), so even fitting a stock 1.3 case will give you 7% reduction in Hi range, but only 6% lower Lo. A 1.0lt case will give you a 20% reduction of Hi ratio, and 17% reduction of Lo.

The following are the percentage of reduction from the Coily ratios for a range of Aftermarket gears (such as those sold by Low Range Offroad):

4.16 gears: 20% Hi, 94% Lo
4.9 gears: 23% Hi, 127% Lo
5.1 gears: 26% Hi, 139% Lo
6.5 gears: 28% Hi, 202% Lo

The Coily suspension is a limiting factor in the amount of lift you can get by replacing springs alone. You will only get enough clearance for 235/75-15 tyres. Anything bigger will need a bodylift as well as possible body clearance work.
