Hi all,

ive just bought a 92 vit wagon which is stock as a rock. Im wondering how this will go doing beach work without a lift???? Its got standard tyres and i do plan on doing a lift but would love to take it for a run up double island and fraser before i do . How will it go??

youll wonder when the 4wding starts, just let the tyres down to something smart and off you go, youll find you end up doing most of it in 2wd if you want

It should go fine in the sand mate, even with stock/highway tyres. Theyre great in the sand, make sure you drop the pressure down a bit and you should be fine.

only issue I found was when following a designated track that had been hacked by bigger cars with more clearance. The front cross member acted like a plough, got me stuck twice. So if you can steer clear of other peoples tracks, do this and you won't have any hassles
I have new Toyo A/T tyres with a fairly stiff sidewall, so I needed to let them down to 12psi before I noticed any difference, the car just didn't have enough weight to squash them otherwise.

Thanx for the tip, i figure straddling the ruts will work best becasue the clearence wont be enuff to compete with poortrols and the like. Will have to see how it goes.

You should have some fun mate. I only recently got a Vitara and have taken it on the beach a few times. It's got 235/ 75 mud tyres and it just floats across the sand. I've also got a Jeep Cherokee, and the Vitara puts it to shame on the sand. I let they tyres down to 15 psi. Though I don't think it would have made a difference if I left them at 25 psi.

i used to take my subaru l series up there even out to the barges at inskip just picked 1st low and a few revs and it would never stop i used to get so many evil looks when going past bogged cars not like i could stop and pull them out anyway
