Hey guys, I have a swollen resi-pump line. It has power steering fluid on it like it's seeping out all over. It's a celiac pump and resi but a cressida box. Is it just a case of wrong type of return hose, too lower pressure rating or wrong material or is something detrimentally wrong? All are custom from pertek. Thanks guys

is it seeping from the lines or leaking down from the reservoir? surely you'd think pertek of all places would know what hose to use but anything is possible these days.
can you chuck new hose clamps on the hoses for the reservoir & give the hoses a wipe & check to see if it's still doing it.

Thanks for that positive input, and yeah nearly 100% positive that the line is leaking, the hose is swollen, and it wouldn't be heat because I run a power steering cooler, and it's on the right way. I'll do that tho

generally if the hose is swollen then it should be replaced....obviously. but yeah could be caused by a few things as you have already mentioned. give pirtec a call and ask them to come check there work. how long ago where they put on?

About 4months ago, when I was in there I asked about warranty and they said because I couldn't tell them what car it was from or what pressure it would run/hold they said they would fix poor crimps but not replace blown lines. I might just take it in there show them and ask for the biggest one

if you've got the time, swing past the pirtek & quiz one of the chaps behind the counter asking if it's the correct grade hose & go from there, i remember you fitting the toyo PS gear & they can't be more than 6 months old... i'd be a bit toey about it seeping PS fluid.
one thing i'm not sure about is, are the feed & return lines on the reservior both low pressure or is one high pressure?

The only high pressure line is from the pump to box. Box to resi, resi to pump, that stuff is all low pressure yeah ok, tomorrow arvo after work I will

Swollen as in a bubble in the outter hose cover or swollen over the entire length and gone a bit soft to the touch?
If the whole thing is swollen and soft, could be the wrong type of hose and its reacting with the fluid. This would be fairly unlikley.
A bubble would indicate a leak (pinhole) in the inner tube thats leaking under the outter (protective) cover.
Even if it was running a bit on the hot side, damage from heat would most likley longer than 4 months to show up.
All lines to the resivoir are low pressure only, and there would be 3 parts of SFA pressure in them.
Pull the hose and check the barbs that they connect to for damage and that the the ends of the hose (its inner tube) were not damaged during installation.
Could just be a dodgy bit of hose too, it happens.

If they have used non oil safe hose then that can cause the hose to swell.

The last two posts were from lwb owners so you know it's good
Um, I took it off and it's actually a car heater hose, so I'm getting a piece of mph to try out..... Fingers crossed it's the last thing to change on this power steering set up.
