Hey guys, just wondering if anyone can get cheap/free steel? Off cuts or what not would be fine. My mate is a boiler maker and he's going to teach me how to weld a frame up so that I can try and make a Buggy of some description. Will be a cool first project.
Anyone know of where I could get some?

metro steel kabi circuit deception bay. they always have offcuts out the front for a few $ a length.

like most steel shops, the offcuts bins are full of all sorts of different stuff. be aware of the actual prices though as many places over price their stuff, Metaland at brendale being one, I'm sure one piece I bought, didn't have a price on it and was what I needed, I paid the list price plus a cutting charge. Bear in mind most of this stuff is already paid for as if they get a big cutting job the customer pays for the full length regardless of what's left over.
