No u don't. If the buyer & seller can come to an agreement that the buyer will obtain a RWC within the next 1 or 2 weeks (for example), then the rego can be transferred into the buyers name.

The buyer jus needs the RWC & rego papers signed & filled out by both parties, then take them into Qld transport & transfer it ova..

Taken from Qld transport website
Selling a vehicle? If you are selling a registered vehicle, you will need to obtain and display a Queensland safety certificate from the moment you offer the vehicle for sale. The safety certificate must be displayed on a conspicuous part of the vehicle. Contact an approved inspection station to arrange an inspection. Fees for inspections are paid directly to the station. A seller's checklist is available. If you fail to display a Queensland safety certificate on the vehicle from the moment you offer it for sale you are subject to receiving an on-the-spot fine of A$500.

Perhaps I should clear that up. The vehicle is currently registered. I am not selling it registered unless negotiated and agreed otherwise.
