Hey i'm needing to know where my flasher unit is i had a look in the manual and heinz manual and cant seem to find it. So everytime i need to turn my indicators stay on (very frustrating for other drivers) where would i find the unit?

no wonder you cant find it, you'll only find baked beans and spagetti in there. sounds like the little trippy switch thingo in the steering column not the flasher

RH side above accelerator pedal. It is the 2 or 3 pin relay above fuse box

thanks 11_evl i found something above the fuse box it a relay with a silver top is that right? also it wont budge at all any ideas?

check above the steering column hidden in a small metal frame, that's where the flasher relay is

is the blinker lever going back to center after you've turned?

Dont think it will be the flasher unit. There is normally a pin (or 2) mounted it the back of the steering wheel that knocks the indicator stalk back to off when you straighten the wheel. Id say you will have to take the steering wheel off and have a look in there for the problem.

zuk_244 is right. If your flashers are flashing then your flasher unit is not the problem.

I'm guessing your steering wheel hasn't been put on straight.

Do you have a factory wheel or aftermarket?

no its not a problem with the flasher switching off when turning is its not flashing at all it stays on you put on the hazards and they both stay on and dont flash....any ideas i thought it was the flasher unit

i have no idea what it looks like i checked near my fusebox on the drivers side and all i see above it is a 2 pin round im guessing relay with a silver top..... i took it out and tried the indicators they still worked so im guessing its not the flasher unit.

had had a indicator in the subaru that used to stay on all the time and the hazards worked normal i had to take the bulb out and disconnect the battery so the dashlight wouldn't drain the bat. it wasn't the flasher it was a short some where i never found and i sold it like that.

what year is yours? vits with the speaker at the bottom of the dash have the flasher behind the drivers speaker, later ones I dunno but will have a feel around under the dash later on

Mines a 95 with the speakers on the top of the dash

Flasher unit, on mine its to the right of the pedal and near the firewall, 3 wires off the plug, green yellow and black, yours might be in a slightly different place

I literally just found mine it's up right beside the ecu there's 6 relays it's the second one from the ecu.

Where can I get a flashed relay been to super crap auto one Repco but the all only have flasher units rated at 21x2 and not 27x2 I tried a 21but all I get is a squeaking sound...

That rating is the wattage of the globes front and back. If you haven't replaced them with LEDs, then 21w is pretty much the standard globe.

The squeeking sound is typical if there's a bad connection somewhere not allowing full power to go through. Does the indicators glow at full brightness?

No the left hand side rear indicator is dimmer only just checked

check the plug for the tail lights first, as well as all the contacts (easy to get water/mud in there).

I'm not familiar with your model, but generally the globes have their own earth front and rear, and the flasher can provides the positive voltage through the indicator switch.

Earths are typically the most un-reliable thing because the involve a screw in the body of the car. I'd go find the earth connection for all the lamps (there might be one front and back, or something like that) give them a clean and make sure they're all good. Then I'd have a look for the earth for the flasher can itself (assuming it's a three pin jobbie.) That may be your problem, again clean it and make sure it's got good metal contact.

If all you're earths are good and you're still got dim lights and a non-operating flasher can, then you're going to have to start chasing the positive wiring. Do you have the manual that shows which plugs where have what wires running through them?

Anyway, start with your earths. It's almost bound to be them...

i'd look at the globe holder for corrosion on the one that is dim.

well unfortunately its not the globe holder so loooks like im going to have to start looking at earth cabling unfortunately.

have you tryed pulling the other blinker bulbs until it works?
