checking out pirate's "Show us your flex" thread there were a lot of people running YJ springs in the rear of there 'samurai' with varying degrees of success.

has anyone in Australia ever done this?

the jeep springs are wider and therefore need an oddly shaped shackle, but most of the yanks see this as a reason to go to a missing link set-up but this wouldnt be compulsory would it?

anyone have any idea on the length of these springs and the amount of fab work to get them in?

YJ wranglers were never released in aus, so you'd find it near impossible to get the springs.

However AFAIK hilux fronts are the same length and width, as are NT feroza rears

so the same amount of fabricating would need to be done for hilux springs?

Yep, or just buy the bolt-on YJ kit from the states.

Check out Dee's zook build-up. He used hilux fronts in the rear. I think he just re-drilled the rear spring hanger forward (the hilux spring does fit, just) and used a funky shackle which widened for the 60mm wide hilux spring.

i don't see the need for hilux or jeep springs, but they work if your vehicle is waaaaay over gvm. hilux springs are pretty crap, thier eyes are pretty small and won't allow for alot of spring twist. yj's have bigger eyes for better twist and are readily available through arb.

im currently trying to figure out which way to go with my wt sierra too...

i have considered hilux fronts all round and also a siera ruf. which will give better results considering i will be running hilux diffs? (i have to for the front offset to clear the gearbox)

i have a set of sierra, lux springs and 60 cruiser springs in the back yard and if you are going thru the trouble of putting new springs mounts on i'd set up to use the cruiser springs. they have a bigger ark( will give you more drop) in the end. diff pins are nearly the same as sierra rears, are shorter in length compared to lux springs. you don't need as long shackels but are are 70mm wide. lux are 60mm wide and sierra are 50.

land rover springs too are the right length and will lift your car up but you will need to remove abousix leaves. They also have double wrapped eyes

But they are 65 mm wide.

I put some in a ush basher sierra by just grinding the sides of the spring down. VERY VERY rough but if you machine them or do it by a cold method rather than appling heat then it should be okay

im running lux fronts in the rear.. i made up a new front hanger.. which then pushed the diff forward heaps. I've pushed the diff back 2" since then, by re-drilling the perch, and making up a plate that sits between the spring, and the perch. The diff is now back approx 1" than the standard zook location.
