Considering removing my air con.
Less work for engine,
more air to keep motor and automatic cool.
Easier access to belts etc for track side repairs.
Turning air on nearly stops forward motion

Is there anything I should know,
safety wise.
And is it a silly idea.

Don't want to cook new motor, once its in,
and 31's and auto gets a little warm.
Access to clean mud out of radiator fins would be easier, too.

The old gas needs to be vacuumed out and disposed of properly. Please don't just let it go into the atmosphere

I'm almost certain it was recharged with the ozone layer friendly gas, but will make sure, before doing it myself

the aircon isnt really posing any restriction to airflow or engine when turned off and will likely cost you more to remove than youll sell the system for.

Mine wont overheat in summer with the aircon flat out (I only ever turn mine off for about 3 weeks a year) so I dont think its a real heat concern

You should consider a bigger auto cooler if you havent already though, strap it on in front of everything else

I forgot to add, it don't blow any cooled air, so could be in need of a service, too

does the compressor cut in when you turn it on?

if so in the top of the drier (cannister looking thing beside the radiator) will have a sight glass on top, you should be able to see liquid gas moving through, if there are bubbles or no movement the gas might of all leaked out.

You may be able to pull a cap off a line and poke the valve like a tyre to see if anything escapes but it would be wrong to mention that to somebody

It shows nothing in the little window, and when searching for another problem, I did press the valve thing, it just did a little phhh then zero.

It still slows the car down, when I switch it on, but less than it used to.

Yep was bugger all in it, no loss to removing it.
No ozone depleting gas came out,
though it must have over time anyway
Have lots of room for cleaning mud out the radiator fins now.
Less pipes and wires in the way.
Room for power steering cooler and extra auto cooler if ever needed.
Was a bit tricky getting my big clumsy hands into all those spots.
Power steering bracket converts to non ac easily.

I hosed the radiator while it was out,
scarey how much mud they can trap.
