They look awesome Jimbo.
For a electrical retard like me, what type of time frame could i run this off my battery before killing it?
i won't understand technical jargon. Just something like 20 minutes is the answer I'm after

Weaves, at 0.5 amp per meter its pretty easy to work out
lets assume they are 1m long so 0.5 amp
next how long do we want to run before a recharge, lets say 5 hours
0.5 x 5 = 2.5, so this figure is our amp hours, almost like how many litres of water we might use from a tank
Now we might have 4 of them we want to run so we multiply that by 4 to get 10 amp hours
almost every battery will have an amp hour rating on it, lets say 50 amp hours so we can see we are sweet here
When working this stuff out I like to only use half the battery capacity so you have some room and arent running the battery dead and hurting it
Because of the small current draw little sealed batteries from jaycar are great for these because you can sit the battery on the ground under the light and not have to worry about leads running everywhere

I have honestly always stayed well clear electrical (except car stereo's), after having an uneducated attempt at wiring when i was 17 and made my car like sheps orange one.
The way you have explained that makes perfect sense. Cheers Royce.

personally i think they're overpriced considering you can get 5m of the either SMD 3528 LED or the SMD 5050 LED strip for about $35.

Except you can't just purchase the roll and plug it straight into your cig lighter and off ya go.

yes you can, hook it straight up to your battery.
but you can cut a $35 5m roll into 5 sections, which makes it $7 per metre... so you're trying to tell me there is $67 worth of wire, plug, alloy & postage.

No, but if you take into account that he's obviously trying to make some money out of this, so he needs to cover overheads like materials, labour, postage... Seems like a responsible price to me. $20 - $30 in materials, $10 postage & $30 for say an hours work. Seems fine.

It's all about the easy-ness of plug and play.
Isn't mark up how companies make there $$$??
Goodluck with the sale Jimbo, they look the goods.

Fair enough, not everyone can solder etc though. Yes if you can do the work/are prepared to fuck around with it then it may be abit dear... Other than that its fair.

Good on you for making these up.
I agree with Atari here. I bought 5m of the LED's for $23 and more than happy to try myself, but for those who don't want to make it themselves you have a perfect product.
Good luck with moving some
