more info required.
what sort of terrain, what sort of suzuki, what sort of mods do you already have, what sort of 4wding experience do you have.
i'd go gears.

If you've already got big rubber then I'd definitely go gears.

i drive it daily so i aint gunna weld the rear.
why is it everyone favours the reduction gears over lockers ?
i thought keeping traction to the ground was more important ?

How do you get traction down if a) clutch slips b) you don't have enough torque to turn the wheels
To do the above without stalling and without clutch slip you will probably find your self doing 10-15kph which is deffo not ideal of you are going over technical rocky sections etc

If you only ever plan to drive on 29" and smaller tyres then lockers are a good mod. If you drive on 30" and larger tyres then a geared car can outdrive an ungeared and locked car on most terrain.

awesome, thanks for the help guys i guess gearing is the way to go.
gearing wont affect the car while in 2H will it ? and will it still have enough go in 4H to smash the mud ruts ?

In a 1.3 Sierra transfer, there will be a small reduction in high range. This will complement your 30" tyres and give you a lot more 'go' on-road.
Smashing mud ruts is probably best done in low range - unless you like hitting your mud at 50km/h+.

should i pay much attention to the chart on lowrange ?
it recommends 4,9 gears for tyres of my size ? (im only running 30's)
or just go all over and get the 6,5 ?
she's still just a carby fed 1.3
thanks again for the info guys

Yeah I would get gears and go 4.9's.
I got 4.9's with 31's and really like how it drives and reckon they will be great for 30's

plus you dont plan on going any bigger than a 31.
4.9's will suit well.

4.9s are guaranteed 6months, 6.5s lifetime which would seem the manufacturer believes one is better

I drive around all the time on 29's and 6.5's with standard wt (3.7) diffs, anto86 drives around all the time on 29's and 6.5's with standard (3.9) coily diffs, and unless you're doing a hectic highway trip it's a non issue.
If you are doing a lot of highway, match your tyres to your gears or vice versa, it can be done but they rev pretty hard.

I don't no much but I'm guessing better on your clutch, better on your drive line and engine. Having a slower craw you'd be able to pic better lines as such and you shouldn't get much wheels up if you pic a good line

With gears you dont need to hit everything at warp speed, no wheels in the air. Gears give you the option of crawling obstacles in a much safer and controlled way, to the extent you need to learn to accelerate down hills

Being a bit of a noob to wheeling then i guess reduction will help me learn to slow down and be a bit more technical. i just worry about getting through mud ruts easily without lockers ans going slower.
