Get a good manual...

There's LOT'S of mark's..... 8O

Make sure you get the upgraded tensioner to, I think it's a Suzuki only item, but a MUST, no point changing the chain other wise...

im not sure about h20a and im sure someone will be able to help u a lil more than myself atm.

but in most motors you have marks to align with for the cam gears and the crank, Or if ya real good get the chain off with out moving any of the gears zip tie them in place type thing so they dont move!!! lol

but..

the crank pully should be aligned with its mark (usually a little arrow) to a mark on the block around next to pulley somewhere and on Top Dead Centre or TDC, so number 1 piston is at top of its cylinder.

and im not 100% but cams usually have little triangle marks to but u either align them "like the crank" to a corresponding mark on block around outside of cam gear, OR line cams mark with each other.

but as i stated im not 100% just a rough guide havnt done a v6 timing chain as of yet lol.

im sure someone on here has done one that could help u out more.

also check around this site somewhere they have manuals for a few suzukis u can download or google that shit :D:D

I don't mean to be rude, but NO!!!

The timing chain complexity has to be seen to be believed on the H/J engines. I'm not exactly sure what drugs the engineer was taking when he/she designed them :helloo:

Don't just get any manual, get hold of the FSM... And follow it step by step. That'll prevent you from doing things like putting the sprockets on before the chains because you can't get the chain on afterwards (not that I did that  )

And realise you're going to have to take the sump off to do it. Which I haven't done it in the car, but according to the FSM first step is take the front diff out.

there are 4 chains in the front of the H series V6's, 3 for the cams etc & another for the oil pump.

Ok, I know I've said before that these engines (H&J) are a PITA to work on.

But that takes the cake, You have to remove the timing cover to replace the water pump! Which is diff out, sump off, radiator out, etc etc...

Kind of on the subject:

Anyone know if the timing changes much as the chains stretch on these motors? just curious....

Most of the 90's Mazda and Ford V6 front wheel drives seem to have used some version of this motor.

I doubt very much it would bolt up, but you never know. The super charged Eunos 800 version would probably go all right.

Thats tiny  , but if its meant to be 300000 i know at least two people i wouldnt think twice about giving money to rebuild my engine. And another that i would consider. 8)

^^^ That makes no sense mate. You can pay extra if you like and get a change over through someone like GEM engines and you'll have a considerable warrantee with it that's Oz wide.

Compare that to starting a developmental project that no one else has tried.

Not a chance you'd get me doing it if you cared about having the car back on the road in reasonable time and running reliably without bugs.

Yes it does imo. They end up running real shiiite and hesitate/miss on acceleration due to the timing being so retarded(?).
