hi mates. just wondering what i should do so my car goes through water better? when i first got it it was starting to misfire going through really shallow water. what do you guys do to yours to make it better?

im not going to go deep but just wanna stop it cutting out driving along shallow stuff and it spraying up along trails and stuff

Go buy an industrial grade silicone. Silicone the shit out of both ends of the spark plug leads. All around where they join on the dizzy cap. Pull the dizzy cap off and wipe a good bead around the seal. I did this with a snorkel and was driving through bonnet deep water without stalling or misfiring. However when I wrecked the engine to sell, the silicone was that strong it tore the top of the spark plug off. So make sure there good plugs and leads before you do it so you won't have to replace them for awhile.

Vaseline. helps to keep some in the glove box as a temporary solution

A Sierra can ford water up to around headlight level, and you 'should' be able to hose off the engine with it running (not that you should really do either).

I'd be looking closely at the seal on the dizzy cap and the condition of your leads.

most dizzies have a removabvle plug on the cap, fitting a breather to that helps a lot. It is most likely faulty leads, runs ok till get wet, then shorts out.

PS I use a spray bottle of water, to find where problem lies.
