A mate of mine just bought a zook. He doesn't know much about them some brought it run for a look. First thing I noticed. Was a what appeared to be a air line from a air tank going to the transfercase. It's about a 90's WT. and his tcase shifting pattern is like a back to front lower case h. None of these gears engage the front drive shaft. I've attached some pics. It has receipts for a 6.1 reduction sumo case? Anybody shed some light? it hasn't got a air pump but has provisions to the tank for one.

Transfercase breather
Why its going into a tank im unsure.
Does it have hoses to the gearbox and diffs as well?
When in 4hi or low does the front shaft free spin?
If it doesn't it may just have siezed freewheeling hub.

sweet body lift haha.
I can only think of oil shooting into the tank if the case was pressurised..

are you sure it goes to the transfer? looks like there is one coming off the tank going somewhere (probs compressor) and a separate breather for the transfer?

LOL that photo actually showed more then I could see! it's definitely breather.
No the front shaft only spins when in the gear that goes from neutral to the left hand leg of the backward lowercase h gear figuration. However when disengaging the clutch the car doesn't move at all.

The clutch works fine in lw 2 and h2. It appears to have a l2 and a h2. The front shaft won't spin in l2 or h2.

It has the stock Transfercase shifter knob. I was saying h2 and l2 cause it seemed to be thats what was selecting in the various positions. Gonna shave some of the body and see if we can get it further down and thn across right.

Petroworks does one of these.
Quote: The Petroworks Split "H" Pattern Shift fork is a absolute must for a low gear transfer case. This "H" pattern gives you a the ability to drive in 2WD Low, but easily allows for switching to 4LO or 4HI.
There is another pattern you can get by just removing the detent ball called the sloppy "S" or sloppy "H", but I think it's an S pattern"
Basically when you remove the detent ball it gives you a true neutral and the ability to select 2WD low. The problem is that it can be a chore to find the gears.
