I'm wanting to adjust the idle screw on my new throttle body, but it won't budge... it's well and truly locked with this white stuff. I have the right key/bit (whatever it's called) but i'm giving now up before I strip the thread.

Any tips to get it free?

flatten two sides and use vice grips to turn it?

Undo the but 1st, Its a lock nut. The paint might be just a marking to say its tight.

need to get it over 60 degrees and the locktite or thread lock will release doesnt sound like much but the metal will absorb most of the heat

Cunnava thing - the nut is recessed and my 8mm socket is too thick for the gap, and my spanner is too straight to get a bite on it. Time to bang things :evil: :evil:

Thats not an idle screw . its a throttle stop screw , its there to stop the butterfly from fully closing and jamming in the housing. If you adjust it , you will also need to recalibrate the tps . you shouldnt need to adjust it , you should have an idle air bleed screw there somewhere to bleed air from before the throttle body to raise the idle.

a little bit of heat usually sorts any threadlocker out ...
