ok l was driving down the street and decisided to give it a floggin and get to 100kmh in 10 seconds although at the next set of lights it was reving at 1600rpm. any idea y. as far as l can see nothing has fallen off or broken.

its a vit with a 1.6 litre carburater

Sticking butterfly. With it running gently put a screw driver down both troats to knock it back. Had this happen to an old Mazda. Secondary butterfly was jammed on metal framing in new carby.

the automatic choke butterfly is open and the little round one that moves when u accerate is closed it only opens when l accerate.

Take some time and look for unhooked, cracked or dried up vacuum hoses, barring finding any of that replace your PCV valve.

It sounds like a vacuum leak to me.

Thanks all for ur help there was a very small crack in one of the vaccum hoses and the spring on the accelerator peddle broke.
Problem fixed all is well.
