How about aftermarket axles, CV's etc. The parts availability for Toyota diffs is huge compared to Nissan, and IMHO much stronger.

I like the 60 series diffs, full floating, big strong centres, aftermarket parts readily found. But to really need this, you would have to be looking at running 37's or up. Lux diffs are still good for smaller tyre sizes for the reasons as listed above

Bit of a thread dig here, but I am looking into bundy diffs for my sierra.
Being in Queensland I saw that someone posted that you can't have coil or spoa diffs mod plated???

I did some very light reading here and pretended to read this.

The first one says in a nutshell that you can have a diff swap approved by an engineer, the second one is basically the same thing.
pg. 13 for the first link, pg. 70 for the second
But herein lies the problem, all it talks about is the diff and not the housing so back to the original question, can you only have a SPUA diff (housing) swap approved in good old QLD?

I currently have a blue plated SPOA sierra, and am interested in going coil over bundy diffs, or something similar with an offset pumpkin.
Sorry for the long winded rambling, but if someone knows something (not just thinks they know ) it would be nice to get a definitive answer, if not I'll drive to DMT next monday or something and put what I find out up here... if they know anything themselves...

I went and had a chat to an engineer today and he said that you can't increase the track width by more than 2". So this would make the whole lux/bundy diff conversion illegal in QLD (i'm assuming that overall they're more than 2" longer as I haven't had the chance to measure one).

He also said that for the suzi it would have to be SPUA, but he seemed ok with approving a coil conversion, he knew more than the department of motor transport, which is probably why they sent me there...

So track width.. Thats no problem.. Run minimal offset rims suited for ifs. Plenty of rims out there.

Here is a list of wheel mounting surface. You then need to work out wheel tracks with wheel offsets.

NSW, Some engineers will go by the new diffs standard wheel track, then 25mm.

40'' tyres can be used reliably with lux diffs but for the money you spend (6k+) you might as well go for mog diffs... not quite road spec stuff.
as for 35" trail rig lux/ bundy diffs are hard to beat price wise and ease of install
