Yep thats not looking too good.

I sprayed everything with the crc co contact cleaner, and replaced my o2 sensor and all my idling issues went away.

That diff housing looks just like mine, and just as atari said, you will have some teeth missing off either your Pinion or crown wheel and they have come into contact with the alloy housing inbetween spinning gears... its a bitch of a problem, if you have a 22 Spline Front diff, and yours is a manual, i'd be happy to sell you the one out of my wrecking vitara for 100bucks + post. if thats going to help your cause...

I did replace my CV on the weekend before I took it out. By any weird reason. Could I have put it in wrong or put in a 26 spline by accident.
Just spit balling.

I will investigate a steel diff.

So will the earlier GV diff bolt straight in? I know r&p have to be changed into the steel diff center. But the housing it self bolt straight in?

yess!! the GV bolts straight in

you can't put a 26 spline CV into a 22 spline diff but you can put a 22 spline CV into a 26 spline diff & get no drive.

but looking at the pic of the cracked housing, i'll bet tomorrows lunch money on it being a fucked diff centre.

Had a quick look. But I didn't use those exact keywords. Your not being a prick, I should of searched harder.

However I still don't fully understand what I need

If I get the steel GV centre and put my r&p in. Will the locker for the vitara fit?

I am not aware how air lockers function or how diff centres work.

RD88 is the one you want, but there are some mods required.

i'm on my phone, search for a thread started by "Stuey" Vitara RD88 problems.

That thread doesn't exactly explain too much to me.
He had the j20 engine whilst mine is a g16b. Was the fix to shave down the side gears.
Would they have fixed that issue by now?

i'm not sure if the circlip problem is just related to the SV420 & RD88 + GV steel, but shaving the side gears fixed stuey's problem, i ended up fixing it using the RHS stub axle conversion.
