hi all ive driven a few manuals but now auto GV's looking at one between 99 and 01. what are the auto's like and any troubles? seems to be a lot more auto's than manuals.

A) automatics are better offroad. They might not be as enjoyable on fast roads, but they are just awesome in the bush.

B) vitara's use an AW-4 auto which is strong, reliable and well suited to off road use.

You won't look back.

Manuals are more fun to drive on road but in the bush an auto can be alot better when it gets rocky. Auto's will work better with larger tyres if you dont want to do diff gears.

Over here in vic i'd say there are more manuals then autos for sale

yeah im still looking for a decent one jason, for still around that 4500-5000 mark.

My Vit LWB is auto,
loving it,
especially with t-case gears.

We got an auto GV a few weeks ago and it's sweet, tows the camper no worries
Haven't use it in anger offroad YET but i've only read good things about the autos so i'm not to worried

I have an auto GV. I hate it lol. only cause it's gutless and uses to much fuel. I put this down to being an auto.

In saying so I'm glad I got it as I sit in a lot of traffic, it's great off road and beach work and for towing the 1500kg camper.
