thats derek for ya. He'll say 'yeah its ordered, come back in 2 days...' 2 days later you can go back and he'll tell you its not in yet, he only ordered it this morning.
If he doesn't have it in stock i go somewhere else to buy it now. And even if he does have it in stock i can usually get it delivered to my door from other suppliers cheaper then i can from suzisport.

I get most of mine from http://suzistore.com.au/ just because they have a good online shop and I can just order it and it turns up nice and quick.
I would only go to http://suziworld.com.au/ (in vic where I used to be) if I broke something urgent and they had it in stock, as you cant order online (I drove there 20Ks with almost no clutch cable for example) even though they were cheaper much of the time.

Exactly what are you buying and why ?
Firstly you said you "made a deposit for a motor gear box adapter plate " then you said "he has got everything i need bar the motor "
I am a bit confused with your post

you could be waiting for 10yrs for a good motor and never come. All g16a's are going to be used and abused by now with high 200ish k's. You might be better off looking elsewhere. Take the other parts and run. Which should not cost much!! $200-300 for adaptor plate. $0-500 for a sierra box
How much did they want for conversion to a G16B efi? Much nicer motor.

Is that $3500 if you got EFI or is that what you are paying for the stuff you have not yet got.

Put it this way, Ive bought 2 g16b motors with wiring for 1k each. From wreckers!
G16b's with wiring go for $800-1500(vitg16b $1500 from wreckers, Baleno G16b 1k from wreckers)
$200-300 for adaptor plate. BenT
$0-500 for a sierra box (i have bought 2 for $50each..on here)
$budget 500 for misc, jackshaft, exhaust etc
3500 you would want it all installed running driveout!
3500 is a rip if you are doing the work by the sounds of it .Quote: dad doesnt like the sound of all the wiring cause he is a pussy so he wanted to go carby

Have you picked up anything form him yet or are you waiting for it all together, how much deposit have you paid.
Again mate what car do you have i.e. what year and is it a 1 litre or a 1300, obviously a lot more work in one than the other.

Brought a suzi sport angle drive kit for my mk1 Gti.
Tolerencing on the machining was rubbish . Then it Jamed and lunched the dog drive gear. Very lucky it hapened in the shed. Ended up having to get custom work done to correct it.
When I raised the issues about the design and quality I was told I installed it wrong........
15ft barge pole springs to mind.

I would go get your full deposit back off him and source everything you need yourself.
You can get the adapter from Ben T off ebay delivered to your door for $200.
I can sell you a gearbox for $150 and the correct jackshaft that will fit 1300 5speed and 1 litre transfer for $100. (being an early 1 litre your transfer will be non switch so you cant just change the flange onthe transfer to suit a 1300 jackshaft)
You are also going to need to cut your mounts off the chassis and weld mounts from a 1300 chassis on. I may have some 1300 mounts here as well.
Then it is just a case of getting that engine of your dads mate.

I live in North Brisbane at Ferny Hills, mate I will PM you my phone number and you can get your father to call me if you like, there are a few other unforseen factors in any engine swap.

Yeah Shep the more the better, I like the sound of this fella's project, lots of people have utes but not many are doing up their grandads car, you can't get any better than that. I say do it up themselves and enjoy the fact that it has family history. I would never sell something like that, I hope my kids are as sentimental with my LJ I built it originally in 1985.
