Hey guys, received my mile marker hubs today from LROR..

Went to fit them, and the axle shaft isnt long enough to fit the 'C' circlip over? The shaft was pulled out as far as possible...

Anyone know if the 'C' circlip is necassary for these hubs? They are a bigger hub then the standard (much sexier looking too may I add)

Currently waiting on reply from Sean, but thought I would ask on here for a quicker reply..

cheers fellas

Shane

What's wrong with the standard ones? They are the strongest you'll find, never heard of a broken one.

Did the MM Hubs come with C clips? apparently they should be used to replace the originals.

C-clip is there for a reason, if you can't get the axle out far enough, time to find some good standard hubs.

I read this for other brand aftermarket hubs : NOTE: Use circlips provided on all models except Vitara's, Escudo's

Nope no new replacement circlip..... Also does not say anything about needing aftermarket axles etc.. just says perfect hub for replacing old worn out hubs for sierras.vitaras etc

The C-clip literally stops the CV falling from falling out the back of the hub, unless they have another way of locking on to the splines i'd say you need to push a bit harder...

From the distant memory of pulling my locking hubs off. you put the C-clip back on before you bolt anything from the locking hubs back on. so i don't quite understand why your having trouble. maybe you could post a few photo's of the drama???

I remember when I did it I had it pulled all the way out but when I slid the hub over I couldn't get the circlip on what was happening is the axle was going back in a little... I had to push the hub on and then pull the axle out to get the circlip on.

As Jackson has hinted at.

It may very well just be a case of it having slid back a touch when trying to put the hub back on. In the end of the axle there is a threaded hole, no? If so screw the right size bolt into it (maybe a 6mm or 8mm bolt I think), you'll only need to wind in enough to be able to tug on it a little so it doesn't slip back that 2-3mm & simply reattach the circlip. Reattach the hub selector to the outer & that should be it. There isn't a new axle diameter going in so the original circlip should be fine to reuse so long as you didn't go & originally gack it off with a screwdriver or broke it...

See how you go.

Forget exactly which bolt it is, I think its the one that bolts the hub on, fits perfectly ;)

People. did you read my post? I have pulled the shaft out as far as possible, yes I screwed a bolt into the centre of the shaft and pulled out as far as possible! I also said that the MM hub is longer then the standard hub..

Email recieved from Sean @ LROR

Hey Sean,

I received my mile marker hubs today, alog with my spidertrax track bar..

Went to fit the hubs, and noticed my axle shaft is not long enough to get the 'C' circlip on? Does it require the 'C' circlip with these hubs? The axle was pulled out as far as possible...

That hub looks familiar :) RIP mile marker hub wherever you are.

My memory is possibly failing me, but I don't remember undoing any c-clips at all when doing mine? It was just a matter of unbolting the standard hub and bolting the new one on.

Clearly I read your post & appreciate that you're probably itching to get them back together. Obviously I also read & understand that you "pulled it all the way out", the "shaft wasn't long enough to fit clip over", & that your new hubs were "bigger" (diameter, body profile, length in your OP?). My confusion from your predicament, as you've described, stem from the fact that if they indeed have sent you the right hubs in the first place then obviously there should be no issue at all. You can't change the placement of where the clip attaches around the shaft given the seating notch in relation to how the hub body seats, therefore if you have truly pulled it all the way out correctly using a screw, then surely the issue isn't going to be resolved by ANY type of circlip, MM supplied or otherwise if that seating notch isn't presenting itself to get the circlip on it.

Either you've been sent the wrong hubs, your supplied seals/gaskets are too thick, you've packed it out with too much gasket sealant, or you haven't in fact be able to retrieve the the shaft properly.

Good luck with it though, hopefully you get it back up & sorted quickly enough.

yeah sorry if I came off aggresive towards your reply, not intended..

Havent even put any grease on the hubs or any gasket sealent either, and the gaskets are paper thin...

the shafts are definitly out as far as possible as I have my old hubs on still and can get the circlip around it...

I am still asking Sean more questions, in the instructions I think it says you need the circlip still, they just call it a 'snapring'

Yeah but that's before you put the locking hub on  with sierras the circlip goes on after the hub goes on
