I've got a donor G16a vitara that has had an engine rebuild at one stage and is going to be transplanted into my current vit that is using some oil and a bit too much petrol.
The idle is really high, first of all. It idles at around 1500rpm. Have cleaned the carby out a bit, but not checked for vaccum leaks or anything else as of yet, just looking for some advice.
When it's a really hot day outside, I'll start her up from cold and the idle will be perfect ~900rpm. At first I thought it was fixed with the carby cleanout. Due to all the hot weather, it has been behaving well.
Today is is quite dull outside, light rain and barely any sunshine, so it's a fair bit colder. I've just gone out to start her from cold, and the idle is back up to 1500rpm.
So my question is: is this conclusive to a specific problem with the carbie?

My G16a idles at 1500 when cold and drops to 800 when warm.
Sounds like perfectly normal choke operation to me.

Hmm, I was under the impression that it wasn't the choke. When we first picked the car up, I drove it for about four hours, getting back at night, and when we pulled up, it was still at 1500rpm and was occasionally missing under acceleration.

Sounds like an air leak somewhere. Check vac line hoses and manifold for leaks.
