A guy I know is selling a pretty rare LJ, pretty original, low kms, some spares included. He's let the rego lapse but I think a safety cert goes with it. Only LJ50v11 I've ever seen. Runs good. He wants about $5k for it but may negotiate.
Post if interested and I'll PM a phone number.

This one looks like a LJ80v in every way, bonnet, front and rear guards, chassis even but it's a real '50.

I know he had it on Ebay a while ago, knew it was a high price so I'd say so. It was registered as '77 but I reckon '78. Strangely it has no compliance plate, only the ID plate. Really it's just an ornament to me, all the disadvantages of an LJ80 with the 2stroke engine. Couldn't be too many around though. Good for the collector I imagine.

Do you mean disadvantages of an LJ80 as opposed to a 50? What are they?

wider diffs, taller diff gears and transfer case gears ( goes faster) wider panels and rear flares, taller bonnet ( the ugly one)
Cause if you got an LJ50 you use it for fun and not speed

LJ80 has wider spring spacing and more outboard shock locations, good for street stability, bad for travel.
Anyhow, back on subject, It does drive well and has been around Australia on a trailer or something (behind a camper bus) hence the low Kms.

Tzar is right of course about the wider diffs and this one has the 1200mm track, as opposed to the 1100 track of a normal LJ50. Most of us who wheel them seriously fit LJ80 Stockman housings, same job as WT housings in a 1 litre or NT.
It has original paint too.

Please don't take 3cyl or Tzar out of context though, because although they consider a stock LJ50 is superior to a stock LJ80 in the bush, a stock LJ80 is still superior to a stock Sierra in the bush.

I reckon that is the case with all 4wd vehicles as well. Well maybe just Japanese ones anyway. The newer the model the less ability it has at bush driving in standar form.

Spoke to the guy who owns this thing today, he says he'll take $3000 for it, which is a lot more like it. Post if you are serious and I'll pm his phone no.
