its amazing to drive too... just sticks to corners. The new tyres are better than the factory ones too.. factory used to spin the wheels fairly easily, now it just grips and slams you into the seat. great fun =)

I know the GTi is a good car, but I would find it hard to justify spending $26k on a 4 year old hatchback with 63,000km...
JMO, I'm sure someone out there wants one...

at $26.5k its cheaper than others on the market at the moment =) More to the point though theres not so many 2 doors floating around - so its definitely something for the "right buyer"

Yep definitely. But finding the right buyer is the trick...
I'd sooner (and did) buy a brand new Swift Sport for under $25k instead.

If it's not already, put it on carsales. That's where you will get the best publicity!

I dunno... I use my car to run to the shops and back. Pretty sure they both do exactly the same job

Is this a family members car that's been looked after or a thrassed out clapper from someone you know?!
Only reason im asking is that i may know someone in the market....she's looking for a 'sporty' car and she's not sure what to get so i suggested the GTi.....Mini Minor....Suzuki Swift Sport.....Ford XR5 Turbo

Hey mate - its my dads car, its definitely not thrashed and is in great condition - he is very meticulous - enough so it was always serviced at VW even though he could go elsewhere, but he wanted genuine bits.
Give him a call on 0407 914 611 (the number in the ad is my mums cos he broke his phone when i made the ad)... im sure once you drive it you'll be sold on it.
i've driven an 07 swift sport and this golf, and the golf shits all over the swift as far as an enjoyable drive goes.
Sure, both will get you to the shops - but the golf would get you there heaps slower, cos you'd take it the long way just to drive it more =)

Why? Its on topic discussion, about the relative pros and cons of the item for sale.
I'm not going to try to stifle any and all discussion in the section like other forums do...

How is what you could justify to spend on it and you being a tight arse zook owner relevant to this car?

The fact that you can buy a brand new sporty hatchback for less than this 4 year old one, that 95% of the time is just as fast in the real world...?

no no a swift is faster, as i pointed out above... you want to drive the VW more and more, so a simple run to the shops takes ages =) lol

It will be perfect for her!
A mate of mine has the 4 door GTI. It goes like stink, and handles like it's on rails.
Awesome car, but we are constantly giving him shit for driving a "chicks car"

hahah yeh i thought that when he first spoke about buying it, then before he signed the papers i got to take one for a test drive and i've not given it shit since =) haha theyre so fun to drive, when you're in it you couldnt care less if it was hot pink with spinners and down lights, its too much fun.
i also did a long-haul drive in the golf, spent a few days in the southwest, it toured very well, no fatigue and very little road noise - and it got amazing fuel economy, although i dont remember the actual numbers, i just remember being very suprised how far it went on a tank on a country run.
