Hey, I've had problems with my zook not idling properly. I've adjusted the cable so it idles higher and I still have the same problem. I'm assuming it's a carby problem. Where the hell do I start?

Check the vac lines from the carby.. to start with..

check fuel filter see if its full of shit if so replace it(probs good to do it anyway) check u have spark by pulling the plugs out and seeing if they are all dry and a nice chocolate "cookie" colour if one or more are wet and oily check ur plug leads and points in ur dizzy cap it may pay to replace all of these they are not expensive items and may help

Ok I've checked vacume lines and I've checked the dizzy, they are all good. It's just the cars Idle. At speed everything is fine? I will change the fuel filter tomorrow but I doubt that's the cause considering it's only on idle.

You will only have points if you drive a 1ltr sierra or a lj

Zook carbys have very small idle jets, it doesnt take much crap to block them. Clean out the carb and see how you go. Its worth running a secondary fuel filter between the pump and the carby. The pump diaphrams also tend to drop really small bits of rubber into the fuel lines as they age.

I had some problems with my idle too, and In the end I just bought a reconditioned carby. It's a worst case scenario but it's not too pricey and for me it improved my cars general running majorly.

Ok so I've taken the carby off, I couldn't find any vacuum leaks but the hoses were all old and fucked so I'm going to replace them. Here comes the harder bit, taking the carby apart where do I begin? I know the main jet is fine and it's defiantly getting enough fuel. Now I disconnected the connector for the altenator higher idle solenoid while running and that didn't make a difference to the idol. So I'm guessing that it's going to be the idle jet itself, I'm assuming it's the whole carby apart? There isn't any other way to check it?

This would be the first time I've fucked around with a car carby, they are a bit different than a motorbike carby
