Ok first off I have searched.
All the other threads are different to my car. With my vitara my rear brake set up is blocked by my hub.

By the looks of it I cannot get in to change anything without removing my axle. Is this right or am I not seeing the simple way?

Basically my car has a drum cover that falls off when the wheel is taken off.
Then my hub with 5 studs in it (obviously). Where everyone else's seem to have a small hub with 4 bolts in it.
Does anyone have pictures of my set up because I have no idea how it goes together.

Next question is, how do I remove the axle? I have tried turning the drum inside out and using it as a slide hammer but it doesn't work.
Any little tricks you can help me with?

dont remove teh axle, you jsut need to harden up and get at it

its hard work but its how it is, PS when you remove the axle the brakes come with it

Haha I'm way too soft. I have to do wheel cylinders aswell. So its gonna be near impossible. Or so it seems.

sounds like the same set up as mine, what are you trying to do?

have you removed the 4 nuts from the bearing retainer on the other side of the brake backing plates?

you can change the brake shoes with the axle in place.

umm we own the same model car, of course I have

most normal cars are similar, pull the shoe retaining pins first and jsut work at it one side at a time

Yep took the nuts off and it still wont budge.
I need to do wheel cylinders at the same time. Is this possible?

I made the royal mistake of having the handbrake on when I took the drum off. Now all the springs have fallen off and I have no idea where they go.
