So it's ps time for me, hoping to finally get the sloppy sierra steering box and have non-glowing shoulders after a hard days wheel on 5psi.

I have a jimny ps box, jim hardlines, vit pump and bracket (thanks MrFatz ). I also have the stock jim pump if I really need to use it, which would require a full custom bracket and more time/rum.

Who has installed this setup before? Any pics? Interested in seeing how you routed the hardlines or sorted them out. Will I run into any trouble with the steering shaft length? This is a non collapsible type.

why will the jimny pump not bolt into the bracket? ive got a jimny pump in mine

youll need to sort the shaft out, the lines can sit along the front tube crossmember esy enough with a few tweaks

Pretty sure you need the collapsable type steering shaft(coily's are useful for something ) Like Royce said, run your lines across the tube cross member, I used a few p clamps and tec screws to secure it all in place.

You are getting new lines made up aren't you

It has totally different castings and doesn't match up to the vit bracket at all. Ill have to get a pic.

So I will require a collapsible steering shaft?

Just after some pics of how you routed your HP and return lines. The stock jim lines are far from fitting so looks like I'll get something custom made up

i run mine, and NIK's jimny line's (aswell) infront of the radiator, i have a cooler on the return line, so it's stuck onthe radiator... dunno if that helps...

Royce is right, it will fit across the tube cross member. I have done it as well. I used a pipe bender to put a bend in 'shortening' the overall length of the lines. If I can get some photo's tomorrow I will put them up. I also used a Vit pump like you intend to.

Pics of your setup would be great mate! Upon inspecting a factory PS setup on a Jimny I believe my line have been played with already and hence are wayy off from fitting atm

Im running the jimmy pump and box, made up adapter to plate to bolt up to a g16b as the brakets that came with the kit were from an M series . Pretty simple thing to do and a few tweeks on the lines here and there to get them to fit is no biggy. Works great and with a front lockfite makes life bearable. just!!!

Here's a photo of the lines running along the crossmember. The lower line has a few bends to get around obstacles, but neither line touches anything. I used some plastic clamps off a Vitara to secure the top line. The clamps clip onto the crossmember and secure the line about 1/4" off it. The lower line is held by P clamps / adele clamps. I couldn't get a good angle on the line heading to the pump / reservoir. It's really dificult to get a decent photo. If you want a specific area let me know and I'll try. I hope it helps

These are the best photo's I could get Stekky. There is plenty of clearance around the box, but too much crap obscurring the photo.




The other photo shows the difference between the two boxes. The geometries are all the same, just the input shaft extends more to allow for the power componentry.


As Rusho said, you need a collapsible steering shaft from a coily... No... you just need a coily My car has a two inch body lift, and I found the steering shaft's angle into the box was a lot better with the lift.

collapsable shaft is the way to go I just drilled the plastic pins out and slid the shaft to where i needed it, and booty fabed a braket for my g16b and ran the lines out side the chasis rail and up through the guard but thats soon to be fixed

Thanks for the pics mate. They really helped out. Turns out I do have jimny lines but the have been bent and mutilated out of shape in there past life. No 180* bend existed on the hardline straight out of the steer box which had me stumped as to how it fit with minimal mods.

Managed to bend up a mongrel reincarnation in which I shall use as a template to get some new lines made up.

So if the power steering comes off a g13bb jimny engine all the jimny brackets etc should bolt straight on to the g13ba engine. However the problem occurs when it comes off a M series engine? Or if you have a g16b it's better to go the vit power steering with bent kit
