Is there anywhere you can go where you can easily attack the underside of your car with a high pressure hose? I still got clumps of dirt in places I can't reach, and I want to get it off before I go for a roadworthy.

We have a small Karcher at home - it's good, but the spray gun is about a metre long and it's hard to angle into all the nooks and crannies, even if i'm using a set of ramps. The DIY car washes are good too, but without some sort of pit there's still limited access.

I tried to con the nephew with $30, but he won't have a bar of it either

How do you guys clean up after a mud run?

just go to bunnings and get a multi spray nozzle for ypur gargen hose and use that. get all the easy stuff with that than get some ct-18 truck wash and attach that to your hose and hit the whole lot with it, leave on for half hour, wash off with the multi nozzle set to "jet"or something similar.
works for me up here in the wet season.

for an hour or so.

trigger nozzle sprayer so its 90degree to you, some snorkelling goggles and get under there, will also speed up your distaste for mud which is only a good thing all over

pre soaking with some truck wash in a pressure gardening spraying helps too

yup - i use the garden hose nozzle thingo... doesnt get it looking brand new by any means, but definitely gets the big clumps off. I spose if you were really anal you could get under there with a hand-broom and give it a scrub too, but it'd be a filthy job.

Tho polished chassis rails do make the mud fall off easier

There is one ... Albany Highway, Cannington (near the Kenwick Link / Albany Highway Bunnings). It's marked on the Auszookers Good Tracks map as Grouse Urban Flex Complex. Has a set of vehicle ramps so you can get right under, or test your wheel travel...

My local carwash is pretty pathetic (Kingsway) and panic if they see mud.

Used to be a real big set of ramps at Karakatta, but access was a bit limited unless you wore the club colours (Auscam)

Same club had/ has ramps spread all over the Perth metro area
(midland, swanbourne, Bindoon and Northam have ramps- but I imagine they are a bit stingy about access)

The only decent private ramps I have seen belonged to transport and earthmoving companies.

Best cleaning set up I ever found was at Sunrise Dam- but its not quite local enough to drive for a demudding session!

I know that CALM/DEC require vehicles to be washed and sprayed for dieback if they have been inside infected areas- might be worth calling CALM/DEC and see where they go for cleaning mud.

For some reason you can't buy staun massojet's on ebay anymore. They don't seem to be as widely advertised anymore.

I usually go to Carlovers to be most of the gunk off off and use the garden hose to give it a propper wash. I just bend the hose over to give it that "jet spray".

Soak it first as mentioned. Then in about an hr reapply and park over a sprinkler. This will loosen soften the mud up. Then resoak and drive to carwash. Or even better find a industrial area where it's dark at night and find a fire hose. I've got a couple of spots I use to go and the fire hose worked wicked!! Just hose the mud away from the area.
