wasw going ok. now the ign key will not unlock, no movement at all, like the4 tumblers aqre locked all the time, YES i am using the correct key, the one that has done the job for 11 years!!!! OK a key / barrel replacement??? big job? approx costs? special tools? dealer job? '99 jimny, no air bags, has immobilizer with a seperate dongle, not built into the key.
ANY ADVISE AP[PRECIATED, THANK YOU

Wreckers....get another one with the key of course, maybe get the door locks to have them matching...it would annoy the shit out of me otherwise. Pretty simple plug and play job mate

wd 40 or similar into key hole.
Graphite powder can help.
Soap on key.
Insert a few times, wobble a bit.
Wd 40 fixed mine,
but the smell hangs around
edit: new key could help,
they wear out

dunno about the cost but suzuki can re-issue a key im pretty sure... thats most likely the culprit.
when i bought by zuk i was only given 1 genuine key, so i immediately had it copied and the original kept in a safe place out of use... this way i wear down my copy but retain the original.

That's the only thing I agree with....
Wd40 will wash away any lubricant's already there.
get a new key cut to code..... bet it work's 
11yrs on one key is a lot of wear...

It's a suzuki, not a Merc....
They can sell you a blank ( including IMOB ) that will need to be cut/programed to your car......

thank you for your replies, this is the steer column mounted keyswitch, that also locks the steering, not the in dash earlier type, i wish it was !!!.this is /was operated with just a plain key, the immobilizer and central locking being on a seperate dongle.
unfortunatly my spare key also failed the job........

try the Wad40 first, pushing key in & removing the key a couple of time's after a lil blast of wad40, if it frees up, use the powder to keep it lubed......

Try a locksmith. I had an ignition barrel collapse on an old XF Falcon. He fixed where it it happened - the drive through of a pub in Adelaide ( I had got in from Sydney that day, so couldn't have happened at a better place)...

Whilst this works, one day you're going to find that original key no longer works, nor do any of the keys cut from it - it's not just the key that wears, the lock barrel & tumblers do too.
