I found out the hard way that my front diff breather was clashing with the chassis and the brake line.
I have since shortened the breather as far as I can go. I also have an adjustable panhard rod on order to move the axle a few mm to the left.
Has anyone else had this problem. Is the answer to just use a heater hose with no right angle in it or am I on the right track just making it as short as possible. This was worsened a little by my castor correction bushes which moved the location where the breather was hitting the chassis.
Measuring my bump stops there is very little clearance between the original diff breather cap and the chassis on full spring compression. Adding any extension looks to be problematic. I tried to simulate full suspension compression by bouncing the car standing on the bull bar but I could not get close to bottoming out the suspsension to check if my modified arrangement was still clashing. I took a video of this but the results are inconclusive.
Any coments welcome.

Go to your favourite hose supplier and get a hose with the right ID that has an elbow in it. One that is soft enough to avoid doing any damage to anything it hits. keep the diff end short of course.
Although I don't think adjusting the panhard for this reason is the answer, don't forget to take measurements of the diff housing position relative to the chassis before you remove the old panhard.

Thanks Bugsta. Since it's been lifted a little it could do with a small adjustment anyway and this will be in the right direction. The hose with a built in right angle might be hard to find but since it is 1/2" which is a common heater hose ID there might be something around.
Does anyone have any pics of how they have set up the front diff breather on a late model Jimny for comparison. This would be useful for me. Thanks
Mike

As I mentioned, I sourced mine from Repco. Just had to sort through until I found the perfect one.
Air box
Diff connection
This is a little bodgied atm cos I busted the cable ties and breather pipe last trip. I've glot clamps on the way to be fastened with nutserts into the radius arm. The red bit is a short piece of air hose left over from the air line that I ran to trhe back of the car. I had to grind it down a little to fit inside the black hose.

I assume you mean busting cable ties. Depends what sort of driving you do. Only occurs when I'm sliding over solid stuff on the arms.

Looks like it only needs a small amount of clearance which will probably be sorted by your new panhard.

Same thing happens to mine, well it hasn't damaged the brake line, but it gets squashed by the chassis.
I got mine running straight off the breather, and bending around up to the engine bay. We have tried a number of different ways, but it still hits. Still to this day. Have to check it regularly to make sure its not damaged and letting water in.

Did you end up following the same path as mine?
Can't remember, do you have stock panhard?

I originally had a male BSPT elbow tapped into the diff breather standoff and it got broken twice by hitting the chassis before I realised why it was breaking, which is when I changed to the soft rubber version I have now.

Not sure, pretty much looks like mikes but without the connection, just a bend in the pipe.
And yes I have stock panhard's, only for another month though.

I think panhard recentering the axle will help.

Looks like the soft rubber elbows should be readily available so I am going to look tomorrow for one. I should have my adjustable front panhard in a few weeks. I will report on the results. I would think that this should be an issue for any of the late model Jimny's with diff breathers. I am surprised that there have not been too many comments on this one.
I had the brake line replaced yesterday. The new one was $27 ex Japan. Took about 3 weeks to arrive.
