Gday guys, just picked up an old lj50 from a farmer and it hasnt started in about 3.5 years. just wondering what kind of prep i should do to the motor for an easy start and so i dont cause any undue wear. should i run premixed or is there a simple way to check that the oil system is working? cheers guys

Isn't it a self mixing system?? If not run a 50-1 something like that only thing is I'm used to running small 2strke engines witch are 25-1

fogging oil. Its a lubricant and fuel in one designed for two stroke engines
PLUGS OUT and crank it over after spraying heaps down the carby and some down the spark plug holes. Then plugs in and spray down the carby until the bowl fills up.

Clean out the oil tank and lines, also check it has the right plugs, NGK B7HS. It won't hurt to run premix, out of a mower tin or something but once the oil is bled through into the motor it'll foul the plugs pretty quickly. Also once it's idling you can hold the oil pump control lever on full to get any air bubbles out of the lines. Maybe drain any old fuel or crap out of the tank too.

bike oil, small engine oil, tried a few 2stoke oils now and seems the happiest on mower oil
