Looking for a comparison between the various tray bed style barrier products. Some feel rubbery, some are plasticy, some are a gel, others have small rubber bits in the mix. There's a heap of options, and no two seem exactly the same.

After reading all the reviews my preference is for a Line-X coating, but $800 quoted to get the floor pan, sills, and various other parts treated isn't cheap.

How have you guys gone with other options, and how is it fairing over time?

With my Floor pan and wheel arches ive just gone with body deadener. The Export brand from supercheap is pretty good and thick.

I normally give it all a quick run over with a wire wheel (on angle grinder) then a thin coat of a good brand fish oil. Leave it dry for a day or so then slap on the Body Deadener.

Underside is OK for now, fish oiled to hell and back - I'm looking to prep the top side of the floor pan as when summer rolls around i'll be at the beach every day - sand and salt beneath an old car's carpet is a bad combo. Plus I want to sort out my cargo area so i'm not chipping off paint all the time.

I don't want anything tarry or rubbery as sand will embed on a hot day, a plastic style finish is what i'm chasing - so I can wipe clean or vacuum out. But I can't find much info on product texture.

stone guard or more protec paint, funny enough paint is a pretty good material for protecting steel from stuff

this stuff. ya should be able to get 2 cans and a gun for around $60 then topcoat it with what ever crap you are painting ya car with.

Paint is no good when you cart heavy amps around, it chips off too easy. A plastic style barrier would be more rough and ready

when ever ya stick something in the cab with ya you should always think how
much it would hurt if it hit ya in the back of the head at 80kph.

if ya think it might hurt then ya need to tie it down.

the stuff i posted is designed to be knocked around and it is affordable other barrier systems will cost more then your car is worth

X2 but make sure its slovent based, and what your putting it on is properly rubbed down

OK, back on this mission again. I don't have an air compressor setup to lay down paint - my list of tools isn't that broad. Is C-Guard available in a spray can, or can I brush or roll it on?

You can brush it on. It's pretty thick stuff. I did the under carriage in it but used a spray gun. Roller should be fine.

x2 That upol raptor is the gear going in my rig. Guys have got it in from the states through ebay pretty cheap. Usually comes with the shutz guns too. Dont know what those guns are worth here. Why not look at hiring/borrowing a compressor for the day? Much better finish than roller/paintbrush.

the C guard guns are around $20

Damn, I looked into it a couple of months back and a couple of guys on ute forums had had it sent over. It's a hell of a lot cheaper over there (as per usual)

Their shipping company got caught miss-labelling dangerous goods and had to jack the price up as they could no longer send it via normal mail.
